COLUMBUS, OHIO (February 11, 2025) – Thousands of runners, walkers, and hockey fans braved the February weather on Sunday, February 9, to take part in the 10th Annual 5th Line 5K, presented by OhioHealth. This milestone year marked the largest 5th Line 5K in event history, as participants came together to celebrate fitness, hockey, and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
From the electric atmosphere at the starting line on Nationwide Blvd to the unforgettable finish at center ice inside Nationwide Arena, the 5th Line 5K once again proved why Columbus is one of the best sports and running/walking cities in the country.
Race Day Highlights
An Electric Start Line:
Runners and walkers gathered on Nationwide Blvd, where they were welcomed by an exciting pre-race program featuring:
With participants decked out in Blue Jackets gear, race shirts, and creative hockey-themed outfits, the energy at the starting line was unmatched.
The 5K & Finish Line Experience:
The scenic 3.1-mile course took runners and walkers through the heart of downtown Columbus, showcasing the city’s vibrant energy. But the highlight of the race was the one-of-a-kind Finish Line Experience—crossing the finish at Center Ice inside Nationwide Arena.
Runners and walkers were featured on Nationwide Arena’s jumbotron as they crossed the Finish Line and were greeted with high-fives and cheers from Stinger and fellow finishers. These race-day moments are what makes the 5th Line 5K one of Columbus’ most exciting and unique running events.
A Community United by Hockey and Running:
The 5th Line 5K is more than just a race—it’s a community event that brings together runners & walkers, die-hard Blue Jackets fans, and first-time participants alike. Many participants set personal bests, while others took part in their first-ever 5K.
Following the race, participants celebrated with complimentary snacks and beverages, a slice of Jet’s Pizza, and hockey-themed activities in the COSI Fan Zone, while proudly displaying their exclusive finisher medals.
Along with the Finisher Medals & Post-Race party, participants received a long-sleeve event shirt and (2) tickets to a Columbus Blue Jackets game with their registration.
