Nick Arciniaga, one of the nation's top long-distance runners and a member of Team Under Armour, outlasted defending champion Craig Leon to win the 2015 OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon on Saturday, May 2 in downtown Columbus.

Arciniaga, of Flagstaff, Ariz., finished in 1:05:56. Leon, an Ohio University graduate now living and training in Eugene, Ore., ran 1:06:40. The two ran together through approximately 8 miles.

“I wanted to come out here to preview the course and check things out,” Arciniaga told The Columbus Dispatch after the race. “It's a very positive atmosphere here. The energy was great, and the crowd pushed me along when I need it the most.”

Arciniaga, 31, and Leon, 30, made promotional appearances and participated in the Capital City Half Marathon in advance of the event hosting the Men's and Women's USATF Half Marathon Championships in 2016 and 2017.
