Panera Bread kicked off a weeklong fund-raising campaign in 30 Columbus-area restaurants today that benefits the OhioHealth Foundation, the Official Benefiting Charity of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon.
The promotion encourages Panera Bread patrons to “CAP OFF” meals purchased March 1-7 with a $1 donation, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the OhioHealth Foundation and earmarked for neuroscience patient programming at OhioHealth hospitals.
The partnership is a direct result of both companies' involvement with the Capital City Half Marathon. OhioHealth this year became the event's first title sponsor, while Panera is the event's “Official Restaurant.”
“We are proud to form this new partnership with OhioHealth and unite with them over one common goal — promoting healthy living,” said Liz Fiorino, regional marketing director for Covelli Enterprises, Panera Bread's largest franchisee. “With this shared objective, I only see potential for our partnership to grow in the future as healthy eating continues to play an increasingly significant role in healthcare and overall wellness.”
Neuroscience programming at OhioHealth supports the treatment of victims of stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's and other brain and spine conditions.
“As our population ages, we're seeing a rise in the need for specialized neurological care. We're proud to bring together the most advanced technological resources with highly-skilled physicians, nurses and support staff,” said Dr. Janet Bay, Physician Vice President for Neuroscience for OhioHealth. “The neuroscience patient is at the center of what we do and why we never stop. We're thrilled to shine a light on these caregivers and patients and partner with Panera Bread to support they work they tirelessly do, day in and day out.”
In addition to the “CAP OFF” campaign, the 30 Panera Bread locations will collect donation in canisters located at registers to benefit the cause for the entire month of March.
Panera Bread also carries the Official Training Menu of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon during the month of March. The menu includes recommendations for healthy eating during training and a special registration offer for the event.
“OhioHealth and Panera Bread are two great partners of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon and we are proud to have helped unite them for this campaign,” Race Director David Babner said. “This is just another example of the charitable benefits that are often associated with hosting major road races.”
The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, Patrón Quarter Marathon and 10TV Commit To Be Fit 5K will be held May 2, 2015 in downtown Columbus.
